First Look: Athlon Midas Flash Red Dot Sight

by Braxton Taylor

Athlon Optics has just launched a new open emitter Midas Flash Reflex Sight, a compact electronic dot sight that uses the ubiquitous Trijicon RMR/SRO pattern mounting footprint. Athlon Optics designed the new Midas Flash to have a true 1:1 RMR footprint to secure a snug and precise fit on any corresponding mounting surface or optics plate. When it comes to the popularity of slide mounted electronic reflex sights, the Trijicon RMR pattern is readily available, as it is not only used by Trijicon but by other optics companies as well. The RMR footprint may not be the de facto industry standard, bit it is one of the most widely used for mounting an optic on top of a defensive pistol.

The new Athlon Optics Midas Flash open emitter compact reflex sight has a 3-MOA red dot inside of an aircraft grade aluminum housing. The electronic components are powered by a CR2032 coin style battery which can provide up to 50,000 hours of life. The 3-MOA red dot is preferred by many shooters because it gives you a balance sight picture that isn’t too small to pick up on the draw, but isn’t too big to make precise shots or engage targets at longer ranges.
