First Look: SIG Sauer Romeo-MSR Gen II Optic

by Braxton Taylor

Refreshed from the ground up, the SIG Sauer Romeo-MSR Gen II red dot sight combines a sleek new look with functionality that is optimized for modern sporting rifle platforms.

Available in either a green or red reticle, the Romeo-MSR Gen II maintains adaptability with an analog rotary illumination dial to manipulate twelve individual brightness settings, including two dedicated night vision options. The redesigned see-through riser mount of the Romeo-MSR Gen II allows for a convenient co-witness with backup sights while still maintaining durability and ruggedness. The Romeo-MSR Gen II also has SIG Sauer’s MOTAC technology, which extends battery life by deactivating the sight when not in use for extended periods of time, but instantly turns on the optic when the rifle is picked up for use.

Combined with SIG Sauer’s Juliet3-Micro 3x magnifier and the included 90-degree flip-to-side magnifier mount, shooters can maintain a streamlined optic pairing while quickly transitioning between close and mid-range engagements. This setup allows a shooter to quickly transition between the faster-paced shooting of close-range engagement to a magnified optic with the power to hit targets out to 300 yards and beyond.
